Handset with best RF performance?

| I need a new phone to use on Verizon in the San Francisco bay area. I
have been using an ancient StarTac forever, because what I care about
most in a handset is its ability to complete a phone call.
I don't care about the handset's camera, MP3 player, ringtones, SAR
values, anything. I just want to make a goddamn phone call, even in
areas of weak coverage.
Another issue I do care about is voice quality. Of course, if the handset
is a flimsy piece of work, then I have to care about that too.
What handset in the Verizon lineup would be best for me? Thanks for
suggestions!

| Motorola E815 is the best for signal and sound quality, but you cannot get
them directly from VZW anymore. The best in their current lineup is the
Motorola V325i(Tri-Mode), the LG VX8600 and the Motorola V3M.

Nokia also has very good RF and voice quality. If you want just a
basic candy bar, they still make one (sorry, I forget the model
number). It's a basic-only phone. There's also the Nokia 6315i (a
rebranded Pantech) which is quite similar but in flip phone format
with that dreaded camera and MP3 player. That's what I ended up with,
mostly so I can send annoying pictures of my dog to everyone I
know :-)

I'm very happy with the tri-mode bluetooth Samsung A-870. Excellent RF,
small, durable. You won't be able have your entertainment life revolve
around it, but it performs its functions well and reliably.
