I just updated my Moto E815 with PRL 50800 in NJ. What has changed?

Thanks, Andrew. On the forums I found:
http://www.wirelesswavelength.com/
and looked at Verizon's PCS license map. I didn't know they had so much
PCS footprint across the South, including all of Florida and northern SC,
near home.

No wonder it sucks so bad in the country! PCS sucks in the country!

In the South it's ALLTEL.

But its just fine in Virginia where I live.

It all depends how many towers they have. I was in texas near San
Antonio and got a good signal all the time.

Most of Florida was OK except in the keys outside of larger cities.

Those maps aren't up-to-date. Verizon has acquired even more PCS since
then.

What I've noticed with Verizon is that their PCS service doesn't suck
in the country because they tend not to build it out in the country
(though when they do they seem to install enough towers to cover
most places). Of the places I've been recently, there's no sign of
Verizon service in Wisconsin away from the cities (e.g. 54481), nor
anywhere in west Texas (e.g. 76901), even though they have big-spectrum
PCS licenses in both places.

In east Florida there is no cellular CDMA service at all. Cingular
had one of the licences and AT&T Wireless had the other, so now AT&T
has both.

That might work for us. FCC takes a dim view of monopolies and usually
makes them sell one of them. Do they still do this??

Not any more. The Feds don't differentiate between 800 and 1900 any
longer, and allow two licenses per market to belong to one carrier, so
one carrier can now own both 800-Mhz licenses through mergers and/or
buyouts.

Damned stupid if you ask me, but of course the Feds didn't ask me... ;-)

It's what happens when we let lawyers run our tech businesses, not the
stoic old engineers the FCC was born with who made radio in America
great....not the solid spammer radio is today...

Lawyers....just follow the money trail to the outhouse.
