Author Any third party hackers to free up Verizon phones?

Is there anybody out there who unlocks Verizon phones (I have a V3m) so they
can be used with software to transfer ringtones, etc., back and forth? I've
done everything listed on the message boards and so far all I've been able
to do is uncover some features that were locked out. Still can't do much
more than backup contacts regardless of the software used.

Thanks.

Sheldon

Then you're doing it wrong. Go back to www.howardforums.com and read
again how to do what you want, it can be done.

I've used PKSeem and checked Offset 006a Bit 0 - Bluetooth or USB file
transfer in MPT etc., then saved it to the phone. Turned the phone off then
on again, run PKSeem and the bit is still checked on. But, when I run Moto
Tools I can't use all the features. All I can do is backup data. I have no
idea what I'm doing wrong. I've followed the instructions to the letter.

I don't have the same phone so I can't help you in detail but I know
with my E815 I couldn't use MPT until I hacked the phone to say it was
an E815M, then I had to tell MPT the phone was an E815M. I know I
changed more than one bit in the seem.

See if the above helps at all.

Mark Venture has some info that might help.

Search HoFo or try his site.

I've been all over Howards Forums and it keeps giving me the same
instructions with posters saying how well it worked. As I said, I was able
to find some things in the phone, ring tones, etc., and bring them out using
PKSeem, so I know the program works and it's changing things. I just can't
get it to upload ringtones or pictures. Maybe it's because the phone is
brand new, or the MotoTools have been updated. Could be when it finds the
phone it just locks out the ringtones, etc., per Verizon's instructions.

I also know one option is to flash the phone to make it think its an earlier
model, but if I screw up I'll have a nice paperweight, and or lose the
option to use an internal memory card.

First, save the seem, then you can always flash it back as it was.

I always save the current Seem before starting. I just can't seem to find
out why my efforts are failing yet others are working.

All I can suggest is to flash the seem back to original, read some
more, start over and remember, changing one bit in the seem as I recall
you having done will help but I don't think that's going to do the
entire job, I had to change several bits in my E815 and I think there's
probably more than one you'll have to modify. Each bit you change
accomplishes only one thing. Changing the seem in mine to make it
report itself as an E815M is what allowed the media center in MPT to
work, all my mods before that did good things but did not do what I
wanted to do, that last was the fix and I had to read a bunch of stuff
on multiple websites before I figured it out.

See if there's help here:

You will probably never see the V3m listed as a choice. That is most
likely a deal between the blood sucking verizon and moto...

And the v3cm dose not work right either if you pick it.

I am seeing all the same info. So much I don't really know where to
start.

In the mean time I have found a few ways to work around a few things
by playing with the mSD card.
