Verizon now locking Phones

| Do not get the newest firmware updates. They updated my LG VX8600 to V03,
and now it is locked. You can no longer access the Service Menu and when I
tried to do my weekly phone backup using Bitpim, I got the message that the
provider has blocked the directory.
This is getting ridiculous. I own this phone and they lock it. This will
eliminate all hacking and USB cable access for pictures and ringtones. Any
ideas.

Best idea, IMO: wait a couple of years when the current teenage
power-user demographic is older and more insistent that cell phones
should be open access. Perhaps the iPhone, if wildly successful, will
jog Verizon's greedy controlled portal vision.

Nothing new about this... Look at the V3m. I am surprised Motorola
would make such a crippled phone. But then most whores will swallow
if the price is right.
