Great Verizon extra service

| I just added two more phones for my elderly parents to use. After ordering
online, I called a rep and explained that I needed easy-to-remember phone
numbers because of my parents' age. I was told to wait until the phones
arrived, and then they could re-assign numbers from the original computer
pick.
I got emails with the computer generated phone numbers, and they were good
enough, but not great. When the phones arrived the normal activation
procedure didn't work, so I had to call a human. The rep explained that the
numbers on my invoice had gone to another customer and I had two new phone
numbers. When they gave me the new numbers I was blown away. They were
awesome. Somebody had followed up on my phone call and re-assigned great
phone numbers to the phones. I can't tell you my numbers, but using
letters to show you: (area code) XXY-XXZX. Just awesome.
Placed the order Friday evening. Shipped Monday 9AM by Fedex overnight.
Phones in my hot hands on Tuesday. They even work.

This is old news. Several years ago, I got a final bill from VZW,
even though I had not terminated service. My phone still worked.
Upon investigation, I found out that a company had signed up for
service, and had requested my number because it is easy to remember.
There was a quirk in the billing system which allowed them to be
assigned my number (which is why I got the final bill), but the
authorization system balked, which is why my phone never stopped
working. One visit to the store got it straightened out.

| When I signed up for a family plan with three phones, I asked if I could
have any say in the phone number. My home phone and my work phone currently
both have the same last four digits, and I wanted to see if I could do the
same with my cell phone. But Verizon said it couldn't be done. I asked if I
could get three consecutive numbers, and they said that that is routine when
people get multiple phones. I think I'd rather have consecutive numbers,
even if none of them has any interesting easy-to-remember properties. The
other members of the family still don't know any of the numbers - not even
their own. They just voice dial by name. If someone asks their number, they
ask the other person their number and then call it so that person can get it
from the caller ID.

| I was with Verizon for four consecutive years and they were kind enough to:
1) Charge me more than any other post paid carrier for the basically the
same plan.
2) Cripple my phones so I had to hack them to reenable the manufacturers
intended functions.
3) Give me consecutive phone numbers on my plan too!
Woohoo! Number 3 sure made it nice when I ported my numbers over to my SERO
plans.

Sorry, mega cool (also non crippled) phones, mega cheap (and much more
comprehensive) plans, and every bit as good coverage. CS sucks, I'll give
you that. But here in SW FL Altell, Sprint, and V have pretty much same-same
coverage.
