| I am a Verizon customer but I found out through the ATT group that unlike
Verizon they do allow pay as you go data. I went to e-bay and bought an 875
air card for ATT/Cingular for $107 including shipping. I walked in and they
activated it for a one time fee of $36 and flat $60 a month for data. I can
cancel at any time and will in about June when I wont need it again until
next January. The guy said come on in in January and they will activate it
again. It's much faster than that stupid slow connection I got through using
my PagePlus (Verizon) phone/modem.
Page plus claims they will offer HS service into the future via phone/modem
but saw stuff when I Google clear back in 2006 promising the service. Either
Verizon wont allow them to deliver or they simply can not.
I still have my Verizon phones and will keep them for now. I have been told
that at a later date I will be able to take a SIM out of an ATT phone and
slip it into my air card and pay by the MB only when I need it. While I fear
buying data by the MB, I will look at the big picture after I have some data
to compare to see if it's cheaper than reactivating the SIM.
Unlike some of the shills here, I work for neither company, I just needed
air card service. I have no beef with my current wireless carrier (Verizon),
either. I just need a service they didn't offer, but their competitor did!!
Kind of sad that they just don't get that the market will (and does) pay for
that type of service option, and they forced me to look at their competition
to get it.
