Changing verizon account info

My wife is wanting to get a new phone. She is wanting the pink
Blackberry Pearl. I get a discount with verizon with work, I think its
like 25%. The problem is, that the account is in her name. Will verizon
let us switch the account over to my name so that I can use my discount?
Also thought about canceling her account, she only has 2 months left on
the contract, and getting a new account in my name and both of us get
new phones. What do you think. Thanks for the help.

It seems the much easier way would be to wait the two months, then
cancel her account and get a new account with new phones.

Do you get the discount just on the phone, or do you get it on monthly
airtime too? My sister is a federal employee and gets 25% off both the phone
and monthly, I waited for 3 months for my contract to expire, cancelled
service, and then had her get one via work with the discount...
If you have one, check with human resources.. they should be able to give
you a definitive answer....

| My husband is also a federal employee and gets a nice discount. A couple
years ago, we both went into Verizon with copies of his pay stubs and made
the change. They checked his credit and switched our (4 at the time) phones
to his name. Since then we have canceled on phone and split from all on the
family plan to 2 phones on one family plan and one on a seperate plan, still
in my husband's name. The seperate account is my son's, a LT in the army.
Pretty sad that their Verizon discount does not come close the the one for
the USPS and he can't put it in his own name (or won't, since he doesn't
want to give Verizon the extra $$$.)
I have a question regarding blackberrys. If we get a blackberry, can we
keep the same family plan and add a data package? Our discount only covers
the main phone and no extra packages (text, vcast, if we wanted it). If we
get a blackberry plan, will it all be discounted and can we just add a
non-blackberry to the account? CS was not a help with this.

| Hope it isn't too late for your answer...
You can do what is called an Assumption of Liability and move the
account into a differant name.
Blackberry: Yes, you can keep it on the Fam Share, and add the data
package. On most plans the data plan is not subject to the discount,
but it will depend on what your company has negotiated with verizon
wireless for the contract.
