BlackBerry 8830 message icon issue

I'm not totally sure where to file this, since this might be more of
an issue with the OS on the device, but I'm having an issue with the
message icon in the status bar.

It says that I have a number of new messages, even though I don't have
any new SMS, new emails (in my two account setups), or even new voice
messages (though I don't think that would make a difference).

Is there a way to fix this, because it's now becoming a pet-peeve of
mine?

Also, does anyone know of a manual/site that has an explanation of all
the status icons?
