I found out today that if you turn on your phone and it does not find a
signal there is no way to get into the menus. So what good is the off
network direct talk with this problem? I Think if the phone had a signal
and looses it you can go into the menus and functions but not from a
startup. So if we went on a plane and had to turn our phones off and landed
someplace with no NEXTEL service and wanted to use the off network Direct
Talk feature we would not be able to. What if any solutions does anyone
have?

Never had this happen, but then I never turn my phone off. Whey flying, I
simply use 'Airplane mode' on my i760. Most of the newer models, with
Direct Talk, also have Airplane mode. What model do you have?

Brett

eventually if you keep pressing the menu button you can get into the menu
options and access functions like Direct Talk.

Just hit the red phone button. It will go to the main screen.
