Nextel cellular service - i730, 760, 830 etc v. i95

i730, 760, 830 etc v. i95

Nextel is sending me a 730 ($0) and an 830 ($25) +31.50 tax for both as part
of a promo. Already have 2 i95's.

Am happy with the i95's, except for the lack of TRUE voice activated
dialing--where I can say into the phone "8005551212" and that number is
instantly dialed for me (unlike setting up a voice number for routine
calls).

The Nextel person said the newer phones have the voice dialing I want, but
I'm reading some of the manuals on line, and I can't find that feature.

Do any of the new Nextel phones have it?

BTW, I should have said in my OP that I have 15 days to try and send back
the new phones, without charge.
Also, I started reading reviews, and some people complain that the new
phones have more reception problems than the old--what's your experience
with them? And, is the 760 that much better than the 730?

The 730 does not have "true" voice dialing as you explained it. You can only
assign voice tags to specific numbers.

I have the i760 and the voice dialing you want is NOT in this one, just the
voice name assignment you give to a number. I don't know of any Nextel
phone that has the type of voice dialing you mention above.

I do love the i760, tho. It has a bigger screen than the i730 and
i830...it's the same size as the i860. The color is much better, too.
Larger icons and larger buttons.

I don't get it. We've had the technology available for true voice activated
dialing for years. It's a whole lot safer in the car than punching buttons.
And I don't care about ring tones and wallpapers. Or GPS. Or 600 names.
Is the reception with these new phones at least better than the i95's, or is
it actually worse?

I don't know about the i95's...my previous phone was a i90c, but reception
with the new one (i760) is just as good or better than my old one. It's
certainly not any worse.

I found that Verizon has an LG VX4500 phone (also a VX6100 with cam) that
allows you to say the phone number and have it dial for you. I may try it
for 14 days, then decide if I want to switch over permanently.
