Hi

Im not that familiar with cellphone tech. I bought a FIDO phone for my father.
A few months ago I got my bill and was charged 25cents for a text msg. I called FIDO and they said I accept the txt msg
by opening it ( they got me there because I did open it). I told them I did not want to receive anymore text msg. They
said to call a number to unsubscribe to msg. The phone they gave me said to call back another day because of the
volume. I just received my bill and theres another 25cents from a msg. I did not receive any msgs in a few months.
After talking with them they said someone on the internet got my phone number. THats alot of bs. THe phone is hardly
used, and my father only knows how to make calls and receive. I checked the phone msg's and theres none stored on the
phone. FIDO did not want to reverse the charge. Its not the money to me. Its that some XXXX out there is exploiting
ppl with bs. I think this is a scam beyond belief and FIDO is in on it
They told me to go to www.sms.ca The page does not load. Ive tried over the course of 3 hours.

Can anyone help me with this.
Thanks
Mike

Hi Mike,

I agree with you to some context. Fido used to be very popular for
their per second billing and wonderful packages. But after rogers took
over, ther are becoming more Comercialized. They started charging air
time minutes from the first ring, now.

I work for studentphones, we sell fido, rogers and virgin. From my
experiece with fido, NEVER speak in low voice with the Customer Service
Rep! ther CSR r all stupids doesn't know the product well.

First of all opening a test message doesn't change anything, u r
charged as soon as you receive it, cause the network won't know if you
have read the sms or not, neworks job is just to send you the sms, not
to make sure if u have read it, or deleted it. So the F**** Customer
service rep was bs-ing u.

The main reason you are getting billed is because, you are registered
with sms.ac, u might not remember, but u are. How? well think back,
once upon a time u received a Invitation Email from one of your friend
asking you to register at sms.ac, it wasn't actually your friend who
invited you, it was the damn sms.ac who put bugs in the system and gets
all the email address from your outlook. It's such a vast thing, that I
believe all of us has received atleast one sms, I received many.

for ur situtation mike, 25c that they are charging you is because you
are either receiving an sms from sms.ac or you are sending an sms from
sms.ac, fido doesn't really control that sms.ac website, it's a
independent website.
If you are registered member of sms.ac, try to login, if u don't
remember the password retrieve it. login urself, on the top righ click
on "Member links" then "my account", Account status(active, delete your
account) select delete. It will gurantee that you won't receive any sms
after 24hours of deactivation.

Thx
Hasib

Thanks for taking the time to explain this to me Hasib. I never register myself on sms.ac. My friend was a memeber and
maybe someone got my number off of him. I beleive I did get in hotmail a sms email but I deleted it.
Anyway I went to sms and tried to retreive my username/password by putting in my 2 emails and even the cell number and
said it was not a recognized member

Could these msgs be coming from another place? Also would the msg be kept in my folder on the cell phone because there
is none
Thanks again Mike

Hi Mike,

If it says you are not a recognized member, then you are not. Is it
coming from anyplace else? they are charging you 25c, if at was any
place else it would be 15cent. If they are charging you 25c, it means
the network knows that an sms is coming or going through your cell, if
this is the case, then you should have that sms in your outbox(sent
items) or your inbox. If you don't have any sms in your cell, that
means its just a network bug, call fido(611) customer service, and
tell them the situation again, most likely customer service won't be
able to help you, ask them to transfer your call to Customer Relations,
and then you tell them the situation. CX relations has authorization to
give credit in your account and they are the only people who will take
this matter seriously.

Hope it will help this time.

If you are with fido on monthly billing, and you are a full time
student, you can save 8$/month on your voice message and caller ID.

I never registered....I got an invite and I just deleted the message
without looking/opening it. Still got dinged. This should be illegal.
That's like somebody calling the pizza place using your address and
sending you the pizza. . Sorry, I didnt ask for it. So, why the hell
should I pay for it!

I was told to call SMS.ac @ 1-888-697-6722 to remove myself your list.
All I get is voice mail.
