WAP and email don't work any more

| I suspect I'm flogging a dead horse here since Fido seems to be fading
into oblivion, but does anyone have any idea why Fido's WAP and email
have stopped working lately? It was working as recently as November, at
least here in Vancouver, and I haven't made any changes at my end. Now
I get "Connecting", then "Finding site", then "Page cannot be found" on
any WAP access. I must admit I haven't bothered calling to ask Fido
about it - the Fido CSRs have a 100% unbroken record of being
completely clueless on any question to do with internet or email
access, and I can't bear the frustration of talking to them about this
again.

I can access my and other external WAP sites at this point in time. And I
can also access my email via POP.
However, there are many times when in certain areas where I get sporadic
WAP service where I get the same error messages as you do. I suspect
network congestion.

No, it's been out of service for a month. Every time I try it, I get
the same thing - connects, but no web site can be found. Same thing
with email. It acts like there's no DNS, which wouldn't surprise me
given all the problems Fido has had with DNS.
I asked in the Fido store this week since I was walking by, and the
response was "WAP? Is that like iFido?"

Thank you, ibrantfd, that saved me a lot more fooling around. I should
have thought to check HowardForums. The post in question is this one:
http://www.howardforums.com/showthr...hreadid=1047055
.... which confirms that it was an arbitrary change made by Fido which
cut off a group of customers using wap.fido.ca without warning and
without mentioning anything about it to their own staff. Abysmal
customer service like this is why we hate Fido!
