Text message and voice message notification
|
|
| Gostal Arcelin 2005-11-16, 5:48 pm |
| I recently purchased a Sprint 6700 with Windows Mobile 5.
I work in the medical field and would like to use the phone as a pager as
well. I have noticed that when I get "paged" and received a message or even
when I receive a voice message I only get a single visual and audible
notification. If it is not acknowledge, it does not keep ringing every so
often. So, if you "miss" the first audible notification, you will not be
aware that someone is paging you, unless you actually look at your phone.
Is there a way for the audible notifications to continue "ringing" every so
often until I physically acknowledge it, by pushing a button on the phone.
In other words similar to what a beeper does?
If this is not possible, does anyone know of a software program that can do
this?
Thanks,
Gostal

| I don't think it can do that. By the way, this is the way most phones do it;
I have never seen a phone which keeps ringing when you get a message... it
would be mostly annoying if they did.
Anyway, I think that the best way for you is to add to the phone a loud and
long ringtone, and then go to the Settings | Sounds and Notifications and
connect the New Message notification to this file.

I'm not familiar with the settings for your particular model. In addition to
the above, check and see whether you can change the notification setting for
all calls and notifications, via the side buttons to High/Vibrate.

The hospital setting pretty much discourages the idea of "loud and long ringtones."
I, too, work in a hospital setting and, consequently, am forced to wear a phone
*and* a pager.

| Thank you for your responses. Actually, all of the motorola phones that I
have owned have notifications that do not stop until you acknowledge it.
They would not ring, but give a small sound every so often. Being a
physician I get frequent pages in the middle of night. So this one time
notification can be problematic if you do not respond initially at the first
notification and keep on sleeping for instance. It would be very easy for
the pocketpc to have the option to continue to notify until one presses one
of the buttons, like a pager.

You want this:
http://www.pocketmax.net/phoneAlarm.htm
You can set it to keep repeating alarms for text messages etc.

| Thank you,
It appears that this is exactly what I was looking for. I will need to wait
until they have a version compatible with WM5.
