My Samsung A-900 starts eating battery!

| I have this baby for 2 months and the battery life was much improved =
after
I disabled the GPS location option, or the battery may last for 3-4 days
stand-by (I usually recharge around the 3rd day when it drop 1-2 bars). =
Now,
I have noticed it drops 1-2 bars in less than 24 hrs, sometime it drops =
1-2
bars when talking just for 2-3 minutes (sometime it lasts longer like =
15-20+
mins)
I guess I will have to keep my eyes on this for few more days before
taking it to local Sprint store.

Look at the phone's advanced info, specifically the CHANNEL.
I won't scare you or recite my LONG, LONG tale of woe, but my
wife's phone suddenly started losing power quickly. Since we work
together and they're the same phone I figured it was the instrument.
Got new handsets, same thing. Got hers replaced, same thing. Got hers
replaced three times, same thing. Sprint REFUSED to accept that there
was a problem with the programming on their end.
After a full FOUR MONTHS of daily hour-long pleadings with the
company they finally agreed to send a technician to my house, and in
five minutes he saw that her phone was programmed on the back end
improperly, and was randomly jumping from channel to channel while
idle. It was fixed in a day.

| I had this same problem and I can tell you from experience....don't pay
attention to the bars. I know this sounds silly but after testing my phone
quite a few times, I find I can get 3 hours straight talking on the phone.
When it gets down to that last bar, I seem to go on for at least another
hour or so. The bars don't tell you the exact truth. Try it out. Time from
when you get the last bar until it beeps telling you it's running out of
power. You'll see for yourself.

Thanks for the info. I just checked and made a note of the Channel #'s
(0650 I write it here just incase I misplace the note <g> )

What you'll see happening if you have the problem I had (and I
surely hope you don't) is that number jumping up and down (650 > 625 >
650 > 600 > ...and so on). If the number holds steady for a full
minute or so, especially if you move the phone around, you'll want to
look elsewhere for the answer. The only time the channel may change is
when the phone's actually in use. While idle it should be rock steady.

It happened again <hic> I charged the phone late yesterday evening,
unplugged it to test the battery. Today, at around 11AM (lets say around

Joel,
Here's what you can check/do:
Disable Bluetooth if you don't use Bluetooth.
If you don't use EVDO of if you are not in an EVDO coverage, set your phone
to "CDMA Only". You can go to Sprintusers.com on how to do this.

It takes more juice to search for a weak signal than to lock
on to a strong one.

..and today *after* 24hrs it still have all 3-bars. It seems like my
A-900 starts having some type of feeling of its own <bg>

| Dude,
You need to buy a bigger battery. Also remember, that sometimes size does
not matter. It is how you use it that counts.
