Author Text Messaging Rates?!
Chris Lemon

Alright, so this is on my latest bill:

"Effective Oct. 1, 2006, Sprint will charge $0.15 per message for casual
domestic and international text messages sent or received, Sprint will
charge $0.03/KB for casual data usage."

So I have the PCS Vision Pictures Pack. Does this mean they're gonna ding me
for getting notifications and using the Web browser on my phone?

Hmmm... "Casual" data? I suspect "formal" or "black tie" data will be
even more expensive? ;-)

I suspect that "casual" means outside any plan. I.e. web browsing
without a Vision plan, or perhaps tethering to a PC on a plan that
disallows this, but I'd call Sprint for clarification.

Casual usage, as you guessed, is anything over or beyond what comes
with your plan or features. so if you do not have a vision or ower
vision feature, then you would be charged .03 per kilobyte for the
usage. This is however capped currently at 100.00 so that would be the
absolute most you will pay for data usage without a vision or power
vision feature.

As for the text messaging, if you do not have a text messgaing feature
you will be charged .15 for every text message you send and receive.
If you have a text messaging feature and go over what comes with your
plan you will only be charged .10 per message.

International Text messaging, whether sent or received is being charged
..15 each, even if you have a texting plan.

I hope this clarifies the issue.

A friend on the inside. :-)

The international sms part i don't mind. Finally i can sms family
internationally, and at 15 cents, it's more affordable than an
international call.

It does, and that's a much better situation than I first thought it was.
Thanks!
