| I currently have a Fair and flexible for Families Plan with 5 numbers.
I pay a minimum of $70 for 700 anytime minutes and then all the bonus
extra stuff. It is something like $5 for every extra 100 minutes.
I see they now offer a F&FPF plan for $59 as the base level with 550
minutes, and the notes indicate they changed how additional minutes are
charged, $5 for every 30 minutes above the plan.
Based on this it sounds like my current plan is better is we are using
600-700 anytime minutes regularly -- all other options being equal.
Also, all phones are vision capable and I have a Vision package.
If I move to a Treo do I need to also switch to a PowerVision package (no
choice?).
All five phones are more than 2 years old and qualify for "upgrade"
rebates, with contract renewal. If I wanted to shell out the least amount
of cash, is anyone aware of what phones might be available for free for
contract renewals and the pros/cons of the phones? I would love to
upgrade mine to a 700p and then get basic phones for the other 4 numbers
at a small a cost as possible.
Will I be able to renew the old plan under contract, or I will need to
switch to what is in printed literature? I assume calling retention can
provide better options.

| There is no reason you would HAVE to switch to power vision, you just
would not be able to take advantage of the higher speed EVDO with out
it, which is 5 times faster than the standard vision. Also being that
you have so many phones, you more than likely are getting a break on
the vision pricing for phones 2-5 correct? This is no longer an option
so if you were to move to power vision even just on the 1 line, it is
going to wind up costing you more. Not having seen your account I am
betting your vision structure currently is something like this: $15 for
phone 1, and $7.50 for each of the other 4. [of course it may be that
you have even an older vision feature that is even less expensive] If
you move the 1 line to PV it would be like this: $15 PV for phone 1,
$15 V for phone 2, and $7.50 each for phones 3-5. not a significant
increase, but definitely an increase. further more for example if you
were to get all power vision capable phones, and decided to go with PV
on all lines, then it is going to be $15 per line as the discounted
pricing for vision was discontinued after 10/01/06.
As for less expensive phones, looking at the website, which is all I
have access to for pricing, it appears that the Samsung A420, Nokia
6016i, Sprint CDM-120 would all be free after the $150.00 rebate. I
remind you this is based solely on the retail price of these phones
being listed as $150 on the website, and assuming that each of your
phones qualifies for the full rebate. You can verify the rebate status
of each line by going to www.sprintrebates.com and putting it the phone
number and your billing zipcode on each phone. The pricing may very a
bit depending on if you go to a retail store versus the website or
telesales. One last thing to remember. there WILL be a handset
upgrade fee for each phone. If you go to a brick and morter store you
are going to be charged $36 each. If you order online or through
telesales, or even customer service, the fee is only $18 each. As for
the features of the phones, the website www.sprint.com is probably the
best resource as there is a link for each phone listed that will give
you a rundown on them. I would also suggest, finding a website that
gives reviews of the different phones, so that you can make the most
informed purchase possible. I like Cnet.com for reviews but there are
many that are cell phone specific like, mobileburn.com. I hope this is
a help to you.
