How do I update the PRL on my Treo 700p? Or is it pushed
automatically?

Thanks.

You'll have to call up Sprint customer service and have them flag your
account for a PRL update. Now... be aware, there's a little finesse
required here. Not ALL customer service reps even know what a PRLK is,
sadly. So, not any rep will do.

You're lucky in that you have a Treo 700p. Your best bet is to call up
*2, and at the main menu, say "technical support." At the following
menu, say "blackberry or Treo." that will get you to a data services
technician, who can you then ask to flag your account for a PRL update.

9 times out of 10, they will do it, no questions asked.

Then, wait about an hour, preferably two hours. After that wait, call
*2 again. The prompt this time should tell you that an update is in
progress. Stay on the line until the prompts tell you the update is
complete.

Once done, the phone should have the new PRL. The Treo should also
prompt you on its screen to let you know of the update.

.... good explanation follows

Historically, how frequently have PRL updates been pushed to phones
without user intervention? (I suppose one would have to go back to
earlier Treo's and phones to answer this) I haven't seen a system
initiated PRL updates on my phone since I bought it in early summer.

On the Phone side (leftmost button from joystick)
Options Menu: Phone Info: second screen (down): PRL Rev: xxxxx

It is much better to send an email to ecare and ask them to flag your phone
for a PRL update. That eliminates the changes of getting a Tard on the
phone.

And for those of you that might wish to do so without going to the
website to do it, the email address for ecare is ecare@cc.sprintpcs.com

Please include the following information so that you account can be
accessed to help you on your 1st email. a. Your PCS number, b. Your
email address as it appears on your account, c. Your mailing address,
as it appears on your account. If you do not include these, you will
delay the process as you will get an emal back asking for it anyway.

eCare rep for Sprint
