Author connecting Sanyo 2400 to PC to save phonebook

Hi, I just started up a new Sprint account and finished the very
tedious task of manually transferring my phone book from my ATT Nokia
3560 TDMA phone to my new Sanyo 2400. It took hours and I don't want
to deal with this again in the future if possible.

Exactly what do I need, exactly what do i have to do to upload the
data in my new Sanyo phone to the PC? I don't have Outlook - do I
need that? Aside from the USB cable, what drivers do I need and where
can I download them from? Do I have to purchase specific software for
the uploading task? I don't care about ringtones or games or
graphics, etc. This is primarily a work phone.

Secondly, will my next Sprint phone have to be a Sanyo for me to
download the phonebook from the PC?

Please help me out with these questions. If someone can point me to
exactly what I need and where to get it, it would be great. The
ability to automate this process will be very helpful.

Thanks,
Jeff

Try here: www.bitpim.org

Free, open source. I assume you have or know where to get the
USB cable. There are commercial products as well if this doesn't meet
your needs. One such is Data Pilot (http://www.susteen.com)

No, as long as the software (above) has been configured to
work with that phone. At present, BitPim works with a great many
phones, though not all. In the case of the commercial products, they
are generally tailored to a narrow range of phones, in my
recollection.

In case you don't have a source for the cable, try here:

There are many other sources on line in case this one doesn't
have what you need.

Thanks David, I have a cable and I was able to download a driver for
it. I downloaded BITPIM and it looks like a nice program but
unfortunately the 2400 is not yet supported. The phone is recognized
as the 3100 (which is what was recommended as a try on the developer's
message board) but the program is not capable of downloading/uploading
any data from my handset.

Are you familiar with the DataPilot package?
http://www.datapilot.com/productdet...ducthl/Notempty
I wonder if it will resolve what I need.

Thanks for your suggestion.

I am not, but others here have used it, and it has competitors
too, I understand. So one of the commercial products should be of
help.
