A number branded "UNKNOWN" calls me.

Is there a way to block these nuisance calls?

what I have had success with is to press the hang up button on the second ring.
takes a few times but the number goes down appreciably to finally none.

unfortunately cell phones appear to not have the ability to block calls.

Unfortunately, there really is not a way to completly block them. If
it happens to be a telemarketer however, you can at least goto
www.donotcall.gov and register your phone with them. takes about 30
days for your number to circulate around to the different telemarkets
letting them know they are not to call you. There are telemarketer
types that are exempt from having to stop however. anyone you have had
a business relationaship with, charitable organizations, political
organizations, to name a few.

If your phone has the ability to set up different ringers for different
callers, you may be able to set up a silent ring for "unknown". while
not stopping the calls, may at least reduce the annoyance. I am not
100% certain you can assign words to these ringers, it may be that it
HAS to be a numerical entry in which case this obviously wouldnt work.
but it may be worth a try.

If your phone as the ability to record you can record soemthing like
"Don't pick up." and assign it to the nuisance caller. I've used that
feature for vaious purposes including creating an alternate ringer.

Unknown simply means the calling number has callerid blocking on it.
