Author Datacards and EV DO Rev 0 vs EV DO Rev A
Unquestionably Confused

2006-12-18, 10:33 pm

Question for anyone who has experienced BOTH Rev 0 and Rev A where they
are typically in a strong (six bars or Maximum) signal strength area.

I'm currently getting an average D/L of ~ 1.1 meg (~ 70-140 kbps
U/L)with six bars of signal strength on my Rev 0 card at home.

In that the card is used more or less solely in this signal rich
environment, I wondering what the experience has been of those in a
similar situation when their EV DO goes to Rev A. They are touting U/L
speeds of 400-500kbps and a slight increase in D/L. In that they were
way conservative in their estimates of D/L speed for me under Rev 0
(told to expect 750-850kbps), I'm wondering if I may be looking at
1.5mbps D/L along with 500-650kbps U/L

Yeah, I'm sure that others have noted the fluctuation of speed (I've
seen D/L drop to <400kbps at times) and even some "dropped" connections.
Still, this has worked pretty well for me since I don't have access to
cable or DSL from the teleco.

Anyone?
