What is specifically happening is that calls to the west coast, from
LA, such as to Seattle or Santa Anna are fine. But calls to the EAST
coast are not going through at all, New York, Florida, etc. no service
to them. Calling *2 was hopeless, and busy also.

Software upgrades are typically installed during the weekend, and the
"weak" spots
are "stressed" on Mondays.
United Airlines had a reservation system "mishap" last week on the
Tuesday after
the Monday New Years Holiday Observance.

A crashed "node" would be isolated and a spare unit switched in
to replace it, in a robust Telecom system.
This "outage" sounds like a weekend "upgrade" that wasn't fully tested
in the lab.

Sprint had a major outage - voice and data - due to mudslides in Northern
Cali. Not sure whether "voice" means "POTS/LD and wireless" or "just POTS/LD".

Love it. I have never really looked at a Razor, Thats not why I bought
it, But the form is very slim and nice. The sound (on MINE at least) is
very good, and I like all the features. I've been off contract for close
to 1 & 1/2 years now, so I paid full price because I didn't want to
re-up my contract. I was able to switch to Power vision from the old
vision No problem.Nice solid feel to the phone too.

No mention of a "cable cut" somewhere "between Phoenix and Palm
Springs" HA!
A classic crash after a weekend software update. People got back from
lunch at
1 PM PST and started making tons of phone calls, crashing the "servers"
at 1:30 PM.
If it was truely a cable cut, thats one sorry *ss network design. 2
down cables and the
entire West Coast crashes.

Hmm, a software version that was rush tested over xmas holidays and
shipped
to the customer without load testing. The customers provided the final
"load test"

C'mon, Mij, he doesn't have any. My guess is that he was reminded of a
job he once botched. Ergo, he now assumes everyone is just as inept.
Facts be dammed, AP be damned, he just "knows" it was a software upgrade
gone bad. (The email from Sprint, that prompted his nonsense, was in no
way referring to the cable incident--it was a canned/semi-canned
response based on upgrades that have been going on for months.)

The statement from E-care mentions nothing about "cables", only
"constant updates which might have slowed down our servers. We assure

No mention of the cause of the "cable cut" in Buckeye, AZ.
Ergo, they tried a public excuse of "cable cuts". Blaming outside
"evil-doers"

So you're relying on a canned response from Sprint e-care, which has
been known for years as being unable to "resolve" itself out of a wet
paper bag, and treating that canned response as gospel? What's wrong

The second "cable cut", reportedly in Buckeye Arizona, has not been
explained.
Who or what caused it? Bin Laden? UFOs? Chip Monks?
If in fact "cut cables" are the reason, the fact remains that Sprint's
Wireless and Long Distance network design is weak. 2 cut cables and
bye-bye West Coast.

A cut cable may contain 100 fiber strands. Cut enough of those and bu-bye
service.
Cut TWO -using my 100 fibers/cable-all the way through and kiss major pop

Actually a brand new VM'er. Not relying on them for critical things
like some people whose livelyhood depends on reliable service. A decent
"star" network would handle multiple cut cables. This "dual-self

And not truly "self healing".

Ah, the "I hate Lucent/Nortel" moron shows his true colors again.
Is there anyone left that doesn't realize you have an obvious agenda? Don't
you have anything better to do with your time?

No, no, I don't think that's the problem.
JGrove24 has ranted about Lucent for at least several months in many of the
cellular newsgroups. He's not anti-Sprint, he's anti-Lucent.

Does it matter? Usually the cause isn't very exciting. Nine times out
of a ten, it's a backhoe.

I guess you were paying attention during the hurricanes, were you? ALL
of the carriers' infrastructures have significant weak spots that can
only handle incidents of limited severity.

That IS the nature of SONET, yes.

Who'd want to spend 70 hours/week slaving over systems designed by
"global resources"? And conference calls with unintelligible speakers?
With 35-40 percent IRS/FICA taxes to those clowns in DC!

Saving $40/year and a pretty good Kyocera MP3/camera/Video Phone. You
Sprint Vision Pros can make it 20/20 vision before passing those
features to us step children.
I can live with "Network Gremlins" 5 percent of the time during web

Well, you have a service that you guys admit lies in E-Care messages,
and brought
down phone service over 3 states.. its gonna happen again.
So the excuse of "Buckeye AZ cable cut" is likely also a lie.

Since S is being deceitful in their explanations, the customers are
forced to perform detective work. NT dropped from $3.42 mid-day on
Monday, to a low of $3.24 on Tuesday (over a FIVE PERCENT DROP in 24
hours). The NYSE specialist in NT is aware of any major customer
deliveries, as are major traders, ditto for ALA.
ALCATEL (ALA) was steady at around $13.95 all day Monday, But, opened
at $13.60 on
Tuesday. A 3 percent drop at the open. Then finally on Friday ALA
bottomed out at
$13.20 (over a FIVE PERCENT DROP in 4 days).
Ergo, between these 2 network suppliers, the market figured out who
Fubared. Louie LUcifer held steady during the week, capping off with
Franky D becoming a made-man, COO.

Evidently, you. You seem choked up enough about you losing your job
that you come in here to XXXXX about it so much. If I was so disgusted
with the field, I'd find a new career path and not bother to spend my
days trolling discussion forums that would remind me of the bad old days.

I am truly sorry to make you relive your pain. In the spirit of helping,
might I suggest--since the anti-depressants are obviously not
helping--that your psy doc try something along the lines of an
anti-psychotic?
Move along folks... nothing to see here.

If you're going to the promotion lunch, give Frankie D a big sqeeze on
the cheek from all the shareholders conned into buying at $60+ dollars,
the arms merchant of the internet!

Ah, the old "if you defend Sprint, you must be an insider" approach.
Well, it just so happens that not only am I NOT a Sprint employee or
shareholder, I'm not even a subscriber either. I use Verizon. How do
you like them apples, troll?

Never stated that I was unemployed. The defenders of stock swindlers
