Hey all!

I'm hoping someone can lead me in the right direction here. I would
like to know if there is a way to get the main LCD display on this phone
to shut off when the phone is flipped open and plugged in.

I'm trying to hook this phone up to a PhoneLabs Dock-N-Talk which
requires the phone to be flipped open in order to make and receive calls
via the various extensions in my home. You can learn more about this
device at www.phonelabs.com, but suffice it to say, it appears to act
like a hands free mic/headphone (or so the LCD says when it's hooked
up). Anyway, because the Dock-N-Talk doesn't provide ample current to
the phone to keep it fully charged, having the LCD on causes the battery
to slowly drain. Leave it like that all day and night, and I'd imagine
it'll die.

Anyone have any suggestions for me? Maybe there's a screensaver
available that shuts off the screen?

Have you actually verified that the battery drains? That sounds strange
considering they are advertising this product as "The world's first
truly universal cell phone docking station and charger."

If the battery drains instead of charging, then their product isn't
working as advertised.

One workaround would be to have a separate desktop charger that keeps a
spare battery always charged, and then swap them out each day or as
needed.

Sorry, I don't know of any way to disable the main LCD.

Yeah, the advertising is a bit misleading. The manual states that the
current isn't high enough to keep the phone powered without a battery
(or to keep it from drawing from the battery). I really don't get why
they did that.

Anyway, the battery does indeed drain (albeit slowly, I'd imagine) when
the phone is flipped open. I was really hoping there might be a program
out there that turns the screen off - if that's even possible, but so
far, I've not found one.

Actually, I've seriously contemplated splicing my current AC plug /
charger with the cable provided with the Dock-N-Talk to provide the
needed power to the phone. This would likely work, but it's far from ideal.

I see in the manual that you can set this phone to make and receive
calls with the flip closed, which I assume would mean the display is
turned off. Would it work with your Dock that way?

I'll have to check that one. Let me check the manual. Although I am
rather curious how you would make a call without access to the keypad
(unless it makes use of voice dialing or something similar in which case
I doubt the dock will work). I do know the Dock-N-Talk is supposed to
be able to receive calls with the flip closed, but thus far, I haven't
gotten it to work correctly. I'll likely contact PhoneLabs tech support
on that one.
