updating your phone?

| If anyone has the feature on their phone to update it, does it work for
you? On my 8300 I can go into the settings somewhere and choose "Update
Phone" and it acts like it's connecting to something and trying to
update, but after a few seconds I get a message saying "To update your
phone in the future, go to Settings --> etc. etc." but I can't tell if
anything was actually done at that time. Am I supposed to get some
feedback that the phone has updated?

Samsung A840, same experience.

Sprint never enabled the support for that function on the Sanyo 8300 or
Samsung A840. Even though the phones have the ability in their menu it
is up to Sprint to make it work on their end. And they never did that.

There is no way to do it without taking the phone into a Sprint store
and have them to do it with a cable connection. However they now
charge $35 to do that.

| Yes I believe the Samsung A900 does have the ability to update the
firmware over the air using the menu function. Sprint has deployed it
for that one.

| I can confirm that. When I purchased mine, the first thing I did was
an update... it took about 10 minutes, but it did work

I updated my Sanyo mm-7500 yesterday. If there is no update available
it responds as you have described, but in my case there was an update
available and it warns you prior to installing the update so you
definitely know what is happening before you proceed.
