how to disable the ready link voice recorder or ready-link shorcut button on
the Sanyo RL-4930 ?

I am tired of hitting this button everytime i pick the phone up , pull it
off the belt, out of pocket bla bla bla ...

Someone mentioned a similar complaint in a phone review and also added that
button/feature could be disabled but did not mention how.

I thought maybe some (# nnnnn) programming menus would have it but i
could not find any such option in the few (#) codes i know about i.e. {DATA,
RUN, MSL, etc..}.

thanks for any help
rob

Does it have a key guard?
I know what you mean about not being able to touch it
without hitting a button but I have a key guard that is on when the case is
closed.

no keyguard, it is the body glove wrap with sides open and clear POLY down
front probably should hae just glued a generic belt clip adapter but the
clear POLY will keep the front and buttons clean.

the darned RL button sits exactly where my finger lands for a balanced
comfort fit and its so danm sensitive
all the raised rubber emblems on side of the body glove suit tends to shy
the fingers because they feel like buttons maybe i will shave those danm
emblems off .

well thanks for idea , may have to invest in some button guard, or a
makeshift version

Robm - Key Guard is on p.85 of the phone's manual. Key guard is a menu
item that locks the buttons when not in use.

See the tiny picture of a key on the Back button? Press and hold the
Back button to lock the keys. Or press Menu, then scroll down 8 or up 1
to Key Guard.

To unlock the keys, press and hold the Back button. You need not unlock
to answer an incoming call.

Unfortunately, I didn't see in the manual the Auto-KeyGuard feature,
which automatically locks the keys after 30-60 seconds of idle time.
Without it, remembering to activate keyguard (by pressing Back) is a
nuisance.

You can download your manual from here

well thanks for the more pleasant version of an RTFM

and that solution will solve my current problem, although i would ultimately
like to dis-associate the button on the side with the voice recorder or
just disable it al together since there are already softkeys for the RL and
voice recorder.

thanks for the solution
