the word on the street is that Oprah has purchased a cellular phone
dipped into diamonds and platinum (pics:
http://www.igman.com/misc/luxury-mobile/ ) - not sure about
authenticity of this info - but regardles, even a thought about such a
vane purcase is borderline madness.

I don't see it as any more vane that any expensive jewelry, a collection of
expensive cars or motorcycles (Jay Leno), etc. Oprah's a wealthy woman -- who
are you to judge how she spends her money?
