Looking for New Phone

| I am considering replacing my Sanyo SCP-4900 phone with
either the Sanyo VI-2300 or SCP-2400 or maybe the RL-4930.
From the people that have used these phones, what are the
Pro's and Con's? Camera phones are banded where I work
so I'm looking for non camera phones.
Thanks,
James

The big difference between the phones you mention is the
design configuration. The 2300 and 2400 are clamshells, and the 4930 a
"candy bar". All of these are excellent phones to the best of my
knowledge (I was going to buy the 2300, and tried it in the store, but
got a better deal on the 8300, which has a camera that I don't need).
I've been using Sanyo phones for five or six years and I've
had a bunch of different ones. I used the 4920 for years. The 4930 is
a "ruggedized" version of the 4920, so the case will take a bit more
smacking around, although the 4920 is by no means flimsy.
I've always liked "candy bar" designs, and the phone I'm using
now is the first I've tried that folds. It's fine, but in future I
would go back to a non-folding handset if there were a particularly
nice one. The clamshell holds no particular ergonomic advantage in my
opinion. (Actually, there is one, but it's obscure. Even locked you
can dial x911 on a candy bar in an emergency. I've had phones sitting
in my back pocket suddenly connect to emergency services).
The sound and reception on the 4930 should be splendid, as the
4920 was probably the best phone I've ever had, all around.
Personally, I don't need or particularly care to look at a
"ruggedized" phone, but the handset itself should be superb, if you're
ok with the style.
If there is any con with the 4930 it's that many people report
that there seems to be an audio "sweet spot" - meaning that if you
don't position the earpiece properly against your head, sound will be
soft. I know what they're talking about, but you figure it out quickly
and it ceases to be a problem.
I happen to have two 4920's in nearly new condition that I'd
like to sell (separately or together). You may as well get a new
phone, but if you're interested, please write.

I have three VI-2300's, got them free with my account. I've been happy with
mine, and my wife & daughter have voiced no complaints with theirs.
