tried bitpim and data pilot to no avail via usb cable and now via

How about browser? I don't have the URL but there are tons of URL where
you can either download free ringtone or use them to transfer your own
ringtone to your own phone.

Yup! even I never care for ringtone but I did try both free and
transfering my own myself.
