"There was so much bad news it's hard to know where to begin.
Customers, fed up with horrible customer service, continue to flee
Sprint in droves. The company confirmed a staggering $29.7 billion
writedown, wiping out nearly all of the value of its $35 billion
merger with Nextel Communications. And dividend payments were
suspended "for the foreseeable future." "

Okay, now that all that value is gone and isn't coming back, maybe
Sprint should consider _really_ starting a price war, one that Verizon
and AT&T will be loathe to enter. $100 is no price war. The SERO pricing
is excellent, but they don't publicize it.
How about an $80 package that _includes_ massive amounts (if not
unlimited) 3G data and 500 peak minutes. Bring back holidays as
off-peak. Include FIMF and Sprint To Home.
Switch from the high-ARPU, low volume model that failed, to a low ARPU
high volume model---if their network can handle it.

Not with Virgin, and Helio also using up bandwidth on their network.

| I saw ad in paper today. Unlimited minutes, unlimited text, unlimited
Internet, plus some other stuff (picture mail, etc.). All for $99.99.
I have two phones on my plan. Sprint said it would be $99.99 for first
phone, $95 for second phone.
Thanks, but no thanks.

How can you "share" unlimited? Verizon and AT&T don't even offer a
$4.99 savings.

The new management got smart and bit the bullet. I have to give them
credit for having the balls to do it. You KNOW their stock is going to
get the snot pounded out of it after this news.
Better to get it behind you and get on with the task at hand - making
Sprint a viable company again. It will not be easy and the
stockholders, employees and, to a certain extent even us customers
will take a hit, but I think it can be done.

And it may take 7 years, but yes, it can be done.
My employer is living proof of it.

ATT Wireless went through the same thing right before it's merger with
Cingular. They botched GSM conversion and WNLP and lost customers by the
millions.
Look at them now- proof that it can be done.

Umm. It's not the same AT&T. ATTWS went downhill, was worth less than
half its IPO price, and was bought out by Cingular, and after SBC also
bought ATT & Bell South, it renamed itself and Cingular as ATT
So with your analogy, Sprint will continue to go downhill and then be
bought out by someone.

Boards of Directors don't like seeing losses and stock prices going
downhill as we now see.

The company has to be on the ropes before the CEO realizes that their
customer service sucks? I guess he's never called them.

The CEO has been in place for just a few months and has been saying it all
along.
