Ok, heres my situation. I was looking into purchasing a new Razr from
T-mobile. My Smart Access plan is up in December and I figured I'd wait
until then to be able to qualify for the rebates on the phone. After
visiting the local T-mobile shops, they told me the price would be
$269.00 minus the $50 rebate.

I called T-mobile direct and they offered me the phone through them at
a price of $149.00 if I signed a 2 year contract and I wouldnt have to
even wait for my smart access plan to expire to get that price. The
only catch is that I would have to do everything over the phone (pay
with a credit card etc) and I couldnt do it online. That seemd wierd to
me that they can offer the phone at that price compared to the price
the retail shops are offering it.

My question is this: Is it normal practice to offer prices way lower
from the company direct rather than through the retail shop?

Any feedback would be appreicated.

What's your problem? T-Mobile's giving you a good price over the
phone. They'll ship it to you likely over night. I don't see what
your problem is! Who cares that it's not available on line. You got
a good deal. If you want the Razr go for the deal that they offered
you.

Yes, it's not unusual. However, the T-Mobile store in Houston offered my
partner the same deal. $149 for a Razr with an additional 1 year
contract. They said that if you're within a few months of the end of
your contract you can get the same deal as a new signup.

Thanks for the feedback. I contacted them this morning and purchased
the phone. I had to change my rate plan to a little more expensive one,
but I'm just glad to get the Razr for such a good price.
