Handheld PC and T-Mobile

| Just got a Dell Axim X51 with Bluetooth and Wireless connections,
charging it up before the first use. I plan to use the wireless
connection at home and where-ever I can access wireless on the road, but
what's the best way to connect on the road on a limited basis (less than
2 hours a month)using my bluetooth phone (SE T-610)?
Should I just use the bluetooth connection to the phone as a modem and
dial my carriers dial-up number? Or is there some way to connect via
GPRS on my T-Zones without having to use my minutes?
I have T-zones $4.99 plan, but not the Internet plan, if that helps.
Thanks for any advice

You must have a data plan if you want to use GPRS. Otherwise, you are
using your minutes and the modem speed will be around 9600baud vs
~40K. You would create a new modem setting using a bluetooth phone in
the Axim. The AP would be internet2.voicestream.com and in the special
dialing section, you may need to put
+cgdcont=1,,"internet2.voicestream.com"
Use internet3. if you need access to VPN. You'll have to call T-Mob to
switch your account to internet3. no charge.

| Most web sites (plus pop and smtp) work over APN wap.voicestream.com
for us. We have a T616 and IStream Data (old WAP+Data account). Just
set it up for GPRS WAP, get the CID # out of the phone , and set up a
dialer on the PDA for number:
*99***[CID]#
where [CID] is the CID # you found in your phone settings.
To find the CID # on the T616 (and presumably the T610) from the main
menu:
choose Connect, Data Comm.,Data Accounts, select the wap account, then
the phone displays CID=#
Now with the Netfront browser on our Sony Clie it seems to work without
a proxy. Some have reported in the past to use address 216.155.165.50
with port 8080 as the proxy.
If you need an incoming connection, or outlook, or a VPN, or the
arbitrary IP port you will need a data GPRS/EDGE account.
Don't know if dialing the ISP still works or not. We haven't had one
in a couple of years.
