| Ive just set up my new voicemail and if one goes through the options
and turn on the message headers, it will read you the phone number of
the caller that left you the message as well as the date/timestamp. Not
quite the same as the old SMS voicemail notification that gave you the
phone number in the message, but pretty cool, especially when one turns
on the phone for the day to retrieve messages.
I also like the capability of sending messages directly to other
T-Mobile numbers on the same call. Kinda like the backdoor route, only
different. I havent tested to see if this can be done to numbers ported
to T-Mobile, I have only sent messages to numbers in the original
T-Mobile pool.
Also, as per my other thread, the $19.99 data add-on expires at the end
of the year or the term of the contract, so I upgraded to the
Sony-Ericsson GC89 (for $139.99, just threaten to cancel and you will
be amazed at what kind of prices you can get if you are what they call
a "good" customer) did a 2-year extension and am grandfathered for the
next 2 years at 19.99 for the add-on, which saves me $10/month (I have
no use for HotSpot, but have a router in my home). BTW, the Early
Termination Fee is still $200 for a 2-year agreement.
The only downside is having to move my SIM from my handset to network
card. My solution for the time being is that I added another line to my
Family Plan account. When I use my primary SIM in the GC89, I forward
that line to my extra mobile to mobile line. The idea is I can take
incoming calls to my primary number without interrupting my internet
session, and am told by CS that in that scenario, the forwarded calls
from one line to another rate as mobile to mobile, that is, unlimited.
In effect Im using a line with 2 numbers. Has anyone else tried this
and if so, is that the case? I do not want to get a surprise when my
bill comes, as my Family Plan is a low one, minutewise, compared to my
individual line. Any feedback would be appreciated.
PS: In case you are wondering why go through all this with the network
card, why not get an EDGE capable phone, I read that the V330 is a
Class 4 EDGE device, the V360 is class 6 while the GC89 is Class 10. If
those numbers coincide with GPRS class ratings, I was opting for speed.
Perhaps Ive been duped and EDGE is EDGE? Again any feedback would be
greatly appreciated.
