Are you talking about the number your phone dials to access the VM
system? If so, it's (805) MESSAGE.

Don't know what that is, but it appears to be your mobile phone
number, not the voicemail access number. To be absolutely certain
messages can be retrieved no matter where in the T-Mobile system a
person is calling from, they should use 805-MESSAGE.

| That's not it. I dialed it and it says "The subscriber number you're calling
is not in service." 805-MESSAGE is the way to go.

That number is the "message service center" number on my phone. It is used
to send sms/text messages. It is needed for text messaging to work properly.
I checked the t-mobile support site and the one above is the correct one for
t-mobile.

The Voicemail access number is different. waay different...

I think most people know the difference between a voice mail and an
sms/text message. Thing is, many people don't need a number stored in
their phone to send sms/text messages; it's done through the generic
host name for T-Mobile's Internet mail server, which can also send
SMS/MMS traffic.

I have both that and (805) MES-SAGE programmed into my phone. Isn't that
first one (the 206 number) related to SMS in some way?

206 313-0004 isn't a mobile number. I believe it to be used for SMS but
can't swear to that.

Yes, you do need the sms message service number..
sms and mms goes through two different servers. two completely different
things. (which is why sms came first, then eventually mms came around)
I think we are thinking of two different things..
When you send a sms, it sends it to the message service center (the number i
posted above, via gsm.) If your phone doesn't have this number (set by the
sim, you can delete though) sms messages will not work. It doesn't know
where to send it to.
mms goes through a whole different server. it's not a number.
This is the link of the mms settings.. It's different.
http://support.t-mobile.com/knowbas...lic/tm21387.htm
The server it uses is http://216.155.174.84/servlets/mms and goes through
gprs.
Im not talking about a phonebook entry. This is a setting for the phone. Not
something you will see unless you go through the messaging setup of your
phone.. I posted the link to the sms settings above.
Does anybody know what im talking about?????????????
