Weather radar, Internet and TM?

Verizon Wireless has a service called Get It Now which provides
downloadable applications to most of its phones. A couple such programs
permit the viewing of up-to-date weather radar for your area, including
the ability to zoom in pretty close to your general vicinity of the
country. The usage costs around $5/month which can be cancelled at any
time. It is particularly helpful during summertime when out and about
for protection against severe thunderstorms.
Does TM offer anything like that? Is there any way, via TM or another
service, to obtain a weather radar image, other than needing a
pda/smartphone?
Verizon's system permits a decent-looking image to appear on the phone's
small screen, and the application is not web-based.
Another feature I'm curious about is Internet access. If roaming, can a
TM phone (normal or pda/smartphone) still have access to IP-based services
through TM's partners?
Thanks.

| For $5 I have TMobile Web (I think it's $6 for new signups) and I can
get weather data and maps from Yahoo's WAP site and others. In fact, I
can even check my webcams to get a live snapshot what's happening around
my house. The service works wherever there's a GPRS signal present. I
even used it when I was in Europe last summer and there were no extra
costs.

| In the "or another service" category, Sprint PCS has applications like
that. The application that works on my phone is called "My-Cast".

| I use the National Weather Service wap site. Try typing
http://www.srh.noaa.gov/wml/#select. I think that's the main page, I have
several pages bookmarked.

| I wanted similar advanced Radar cell phone based weather ... I was using =
AccuWeather mobile phone app that gave moving radar maps etc with a T630 =
on T-Mobile. It was monthly subscription based, but now I have a K700i =
(still on T-Mobile USA) and the app doesn't work right. It was java =
based. Accuweather is not pursuing partnership with T-Mobile anymore.
The other full featured ones on the market are The Weather Channel and =
My-Cast. I called My-Cast (their headquarters locally here in =
Minneapolis metro area) and they said they had tried to get T-Mobile as =
a partner but they weren't interested. You can get My-Cast on Cingular =
and others.
So ... I did send an email to T-Mobile Customer service ... got the =
generic "We have weather via T-Zones ... etc". Which is not full =
featured by any means. I want up to the minute weather, moving radar =
and maps, hour by hour predictive forecast etc ... not just the current =
temp and long range forecast that most of the generic WAP solutions =
provide.

| Have you tried http://www.srh.noaa.gov/cte.htm
This is the National Weather Service
I haven't been able to get radar images from this site on my T-610 with
T-Zones, even though it has a link, but I can get satellite images and
latest hourly or special weather report, forecasts, forecast
discussions, plus watches, warnings, and advisories.
At least it's free.

| John,
Thanks and yes I've been to NOAA. It doesn't compare to what I got with =
AccuWeather's java app on my T630. That gave moving maps, hour by hour =
forcast and AccuPoP which were all invaluable this summer during =
weekends on our boat.
So ... Since AccuWeather's full featured java app doesn't work right on =
the K700i I'm out of luck.
It's a crime T-Mobile is neglecting to keep up with the other carriers =
who support WeatherChannel, My-Cast and AccuWeather's realtime java =
apps.
