Blutooth On A Phone: Practical To Leave It On 24-7?

| I just discovered that my new Palm TX purports to be able to dial an BlueTooth
or IR equipped phone.
My Nokia does neither and I suspect my v180's don't either.
So maybe I'll be shopping for a phone that does one or the other.
BlueTooth sounds the most convenient - no positioning issues to line up the IR
ports.
But it seems to me like leaving BlueTooth on 24-7 might affect battery life.
24-7 because my guess is that if I have to turn it on every time I dial a number
from the Palm Pilot I might as well just punch the number into the phone by
hand.
So, bottom line, is BlueTooth practical for a cell phone if BlueTooth is enabled
24-7?

| Yes, you will noticed a significant decrease in battery life. I usually
only turn on bluetooth when i'm in the car and need to use the hands free,
or while transferring files at home from my phone. This is with a Motorola
V360, so depending on the brand the power managment may be better.

Like matt said, it depends on what phone. My k750's battery life isn't
impacted too much. With bluetooth turned on, i can easly make it to the
night before having to worry about the battery. (without bluetooth, i can go
days without charging. I get about 8 hours talk time, 400 hours standby
(even half is still good though)
