Author V330 Question

I'm thinking about upgrading my my V300 to a V330 next month when my
contract is up. Got a question, though.

I have had nothing but bad luck with the charger connectors on the
v300. I've had to have the phone replaced a couple of times because it
wears out and won't charge when I plug the cord into the phone. (I
don't think I'm that rough on them. I don't know what the deal is!)

Does the V330 use the same cable, or have they switched to something a
little more robust?

Unfortunately, that is Motorola's standard connector that they have used for
quite awhile (including on the v330), and the problem you're describing is
quite common. They should be appluaded for keeping the connector standard
over so many phones, its great for accesories compatibility, but it just
doesn't work very well.

I wonder why, then, the low-end phones (V18x, V220, etc) use a coaxial
power plug which is probably more reliable and durable?

Yeah. I got my mom a V180 for Christmas it had that nice, sturdy
looking coax plug. I was hoping maybe that was their new standard. No
such luck, I guess.

I got my V300 about a year ago, and I don't know how many times I've
had to have them replace it because it stop charging. I think I'm on
my 4th or 5th phone. That is RIDICLOUS! I don't think I am too harsh
on them. When I get home, I plug the thing in and set it down on my
desk :-/

Perhaps I'll have to try something from another manufacturer.

The v3 and MPX220 use a standard mini USB connector. Maybe that's the
way Moto is headed on other models. The nice thing is that the cables
are not proprietary so the same cable that came with my MP3 player fits
my phone and my camera. The only problem on the v3 is that the connector
is on the side which means no cradle.

Interesting.

By the way another thing about the v300 -- does anyone else out there
having problems with it suddenly "rebooting" when you are text
messaging?
