Treo 600 No Longer Available from TMobile?
|
|
|
| I just went to the TMobile website and noticed that the Treo 600 has
been removed as an option (5/22/05). Could the 650 finally be coming to
TM???

remaining stock...
There may be a version of 650 coming.... or soemthing else...
TMobile is going to offer no Data product unless it includes WiFI...
Little birdy says watch for the Motorola RazrBerry to come to

Apparently not.
Due to no service from any CDMA carrier at my home (topography issues)
but GSM works, I am looking into my options. I currently have a
Kyocera 7135 with Verizon Wireless, and I want to stay with a PalmOS
SmartPhone if I do switch. Not being able to find the Treo 650 online
or in a T-Mobile store, I gave them a call.
When I asked, the customer service lady confirmed that the Treo 600 has
been discontinued, but that they do not have plans to carry the Treo
650. When I asked about other PalmOS smartphones, she said "no". :(
I could buy an unlocked Treo direct from PalmOne, but that's $700,
approximately TWICE the price if purchased with a service plan.
And Cingular wants to charge an additional $20 minimum for any kind of
data connectivity on top of the regular voice plan.

You might post messages in a few buy/sale boards to see if anyone has
a 600 available. Cingular customers may have bought them previously
and may now be wanting to sell them as they're moving to EDGE. You can
also try authorized resellers, as they might have stock they have yet
to move.
TM isn't going to subsidize new handsets that carry a capability it
can't yet offer systemwide. There have been reports on several forums
that there are pockets of EDGE connectivity, and contracts have been
awarded to various companies to conduct EDGE-related deployments, but
the fact that there's no new equipment being offered shows that
deployment is still far from being completed.

I was originally holding out for the 650, because it has better battery
life and a much better display. IOW, I'm not really interested in a
used 600, and it would have to be a very good deal for a leftover one.
