| Just got this phone and I love it for the most part - have not been a Moto
fan in the past, but this one is pretty good stuff.
This is my first Bluestooth phone and I could never go without it now!
However, one big problem:
If I set up my shortcuts (i.e. Menu, #) and then turn my phone off, they all
revert back to the defaults and all my shortcuts are lost.
Is there any workaround to this?
Thanks to anyone willing to help.

| This phone has a lot of subtle problems (i.e. firmware bugs). I returned
mine before the 2 week trial was up, and am very glad I did.

| I have been a Moto user for many, many years and I have to say it, my
next phone will not be a Motorola. Both my previous V60 and my current
V600 are crap. My wife had a V180 and it too had numerous problems.
The last decent phone Moto produced was the StarTAC.

| Of course the StarTAC was a much simpler phone, but I do know what you
mean. I had a v600 and it was OK but I wasn't thrilled with it. However,
the v3 is excellent and is the first since the StarTAC that I really
LIKE carrying and using.
To the group in general: With the cost of the v3 having dropped to as
low as 'free' (through Amazon), why are people still buying the v330 or
v6xx phones? It seems that the v3 does everything those do and in many
cases better, and costs no more.

| The v3 is NOT free from TMobile.. only if you use Cingular and then get
it unlocked. But you will be under a 2 year contract with Cingular...
if the v3 was available and FREE from TMobile I think a lot of us would
be going that way ASAP.
As for the V60 comment... it has been the best phone I have ever used...
I have used it the last 3 years with NO problems whatsoever on TMobile.
I don't want to even think about the times I dropped it in the middle of
the street, etc. and it "took a lickin and kept on tickin" oooops I mean
ringin...
Of course cell phones have come a long way since then, and it seems that
TMobile is now in a low point with very few above average phones
available. Even the highly touted Palm Treo series has been removed as
an option. In virtually every computer magazine the Palm 650 has been
rated #1 smart phone for over a year, yet TMobile abandons the Treo 600
and refuses to offer the 650 at reduced contract rates.
I do agree that I hope that Motorola's future doesn't rest with phones
like the V180 and V300.... two losers by all accounts... IMHO
Enough of my ranting... just my 2 cents worth

| Didn't say it was free from TMO only that it was free. BTW, Amazon's
deal is only a 1 yr contract (as of last week anyway).

| WOW.. wish I had seen that last week... I have NEVER seen a 1 yr
contract with Cingular at Amazon... ie. not the last 12 months or so...
especially not for the Razr... I would have switched for a year but NOT
2 years just the phone... Cingular rates are just too high for
international...
Thanks for your comments

| I just checked amazon.com and the same 1 year deal is good thru 6/29.
Pay $149.99 now, get free shipping and a $150 rebate for a v3 razr
provided you take a 1 yr contract for a plan that costs at least
$39.99/mo on Cingular. You end up with the phone and a shiny new penny.
The details are on the rebate form which you will find here:
http://g-images.amazon.com/images/G...00011064105.pdf
or you can go to Amazon, search for "v3" then click "Special Offers" and
then scroll down to the rebate. Looks like a helluva good deal.

| Nope too good to be true... yes the rebate says minimum 1 year, BUT that
is with a service plan that you must purchase at the same time. When
you go to "Select this plan and view service plans" there is NO service
plan offered by Cingular for less than 2 years... so you MUST sign up
for the 2 years... a lot of double talk on their part BUT no 1 year plan
available... thanks for checking the page again, they really are making
it hard to figure out exactly what they are offering...

| That's REALLY doublespeak! Take any one year plan you like as long as
it's for two years? Talk about bait & switch! I expect better from
Amazon. Oh well.

Probably not. I wonder though if they release periodic downloadable
firmware upgrades for cell phones as they do for routers, modems, etc.
That way at least they could fix some of the early bugs. For my
purposes though these bugs are not a big deal as I mostly use it for
outgoing, emergency sort of calls here but plan to use it more on my
European travels with locally obtained SIMs, once the phone gets
unlocked by T-Mo.
One thing I am puzzled by is that I don't see any way to transfer the
pictures taken and stored by the phone to my PC through some USB
connection. I just assumed that all such camera phones come with that
capability. Transfering those pics via cell calls can be quite
expensive, IMHO.

| Mobile Phone Tools or DataPilot will give you the transfer function as well
as backup.
