| I've been a T-Mobile/voicestream user for several years, and am
thinking aobut upgrading my original phone, a Nokia 3390. If possible,
I'd like to get a phone that will accept an external antenna, and give
me the ability to use my Notebook computer with a modem, for
occasional use in accessing the internet. I have no idea what all that
entails, or even if it's possible, or how much to expect it to cost,
so I'd like to hear what others are using, and your recommendations.

| I have an old Nokia 5190 that I leave at my cabin for just this application.
I have marginal T-Mobile service, so I installed a $50 directional antenna.
The 5190 has a built-in modem. Using my unlimited weekend minutes, I can
dial up my ISP and get my e-mails. Not pretty at 9.6KB, but it does the job
for $0. The only problem, is you laptop needs a serial port. Newer Nokias
have USB, IR, or Bluetooth interfaces.
