Author Voice Mail with Audiovox SMT5600 on T-Mobile USA

I have an unlocked SMT5600, using on T-Mobile USA.

I just realized I had several voice mails, that I didn't know I had. With my
former phone, locked to T-Mobile, a Motorola V60, I always got a message
when I received a voice mail. It used to be a text message, but more
recently it changed to an actual voice mail message.

I don't think my SMT5600 is giving me any kind of notification when I have
received a voice mail. Is there any way to set it up so it will?

T-Mobile USA has a new voicemail system, which they are introducing in
different parts of the country at different times. It has been in effect
here in Los Angeles for a few months already.

The new system involves getting a different type of notification
specifically for voice mail, not a normal text message. It seemed better to
me at the time, one would get an icon specifically indicating a voice mail,
rather than just getting a text message saying that you got a voice mail.

But it seems to me that the SMT5600, not being a "T-Mobile Phone", does not
get or display those voicemail indicators. (If someone knows of a way to set
up the SMT5600 to get and display them, please let us know.)

So--now I would prefer the old method back--getting a text message about a
voice mail, since I don't see the new notifications working on my current
phone, and I do get text messages. I looked on the TMO web site (My
T-Mobile) to see if I could find a way to set it so I would get a text
message telling me if I received a voice mail, but I could find no way to
set that up.

Yes, I might call TMO CS and ask if there is a way to set that up. I really
can't mention to them about using an unsupported phone, otherwise they might
just say the don't support the phone, and not help me any further. Just ask
if there is a way to set up text message alerts for voice mail, without
explaining why. If asked why, I guess I would have to make up something.

If anyone here knows either how to set up the SMT5600 to receive the
T-Mobile USA voicemail alerts, and/or to set up T-Mobile to send text
messages for voice mail, even with the new VM system, please post about it
here. Thank you.

had their service for 1 1/2 years, and they have always sent me a text
message when I have a new voicemail. I still get the text messages. Maybe
you can call up customer service and see if they can help out.
