Problems with T-Mobile

| a) Anyone ever had unlock problems with T-Mobile? I went through 5 phones of
the same model, all of which THEY weren't able to unlock.
b) Also, this just happened: They claimed my dad (the account holder) renewed
the contract for 2 years and sent him a new phone. He never did. He sent the
phone back and it took him about 3 hours on the phone to tell them off and
the fact that he never extended his contract?

I'm coming around to preferring Nokia phones - which, so far, I've been able to
unlock independent of T-Mobile.

I have had three or four phones unlocked by T-Mobile.

Did you get these phones from T-mobile? If yes, they should be able to
unlock them. What models are they? What was the reason for not being able
to unlock the phones?
Note, that even if they were T-mobile phones that you got from elsewhere
(e-bay, friends, etc.) somebody may have already tried to unlock them
unsuccessfully, and after certain number of such attempts (3 to 5
depending on the phone) the phone becomes hard-locked and only way to
unlock it is by using special hardware. No codes will work on those
phones.

| They (T-Mobile) gave me the code to unlock my Motorola V188 over the phone.
Worked first time, no problem.

I just got done unlocking four Nokias that I fished out of a local courtesy
disposal bin.
http://www.peters1.dk/webtools/noki...ne.php?sprog=en gives unlock codes
gratis.
Your phone's probably not a Nokia, but I point this out because the phones I've
got are perfectly-functional devices - albeit lacking bells and whistles like
camera, voice recorder, and so-forth.
In fact, they have noticeably better reception than the Moto V180's I also have
- not just measured in bars, which are said to be not comparable between
makes/models - but just in being able to make/receive calls when the Moto's are
dead in the water.
Seems like such a waste that people are just throwing these things out because
they have a new so-called "free" phone as part of being locked into their next
two-year service contract.
