Pls help - want to travel wirelessly and ckeck emails

Pls note I am not a Techie and this might appear to be a stupid
question.
But I need help.

I have
1. Comcast for my wireless internet - laptop and
2. T mobile ( motorola razor) for my cell service.

For temporary traveling purposes with my family on vacation, how can I
access my emails via my laptop.

Where do I start ?

What equpiment do I need ? What service ? Which company ?

Since I need this service for less than a week.... what suggestions can
anyone give me ?
Of course I would like to be economical too.

I have heard of hotspots...

Since I am traveling with my family on vacation, I do not want to have
to drive them every 2 hours to the nearest Starbucks etc. to check
emails.

It would be nice to be able to do this while we are driving.

Any suggestions ?

If you want economical, the best option would be to set up the e-mail
account you want to check remotely in the My T-Mobile e-mail section
and check your e-mail through T-Zones (or whatever they call it now).
I did that for a while after I launched my business, because I didn't
need to reply to too many e-mails remotely. I know have a Blackberry
for that because there's no way I could handle the volume without a
full-size keyboard.

At any rate, with T-Zones you could do everything through your current
phone, without any new equipment. With a laptop, the most feasible
thing would be to use a hotspot on a pay-as-you-go basis, but T-Mobile
doesn't offer Hotspot service on a prepaid basis or without entering
into a monthly agreement. It's only $19.99 with a voice plan, though.

Lastly, you could do what I do, which is to have a wireless data card
that connects your laptop through the phone companies data network and
allows you to use that connection like you would any other. I have
T-Mobile for voice, but use Verizon Wireless for that data connection,
since their network is larger. It's not cheap, though.
