Author Is there a procedure for resetting a Sidekick 1?

Someone gave me a Sidekick 1 with a three digit password and (obviously) no
information of his I want to keep. He didn't give me the password.

Entering three digit codes seems to be a laborious business involving
turning off the unit and rebooting every four tries.

Is there some reset procedure so that I can get it working please?

Well call me crazy, but have you thought of asking the person who "gave" you
this SideKick for the Password. I am sure they would know their own
password. If not, you would probably need to send it in to an auth repair
center. SideKicks are relatively a locked down operating system unlike many
phones such as Motorola, NOKIA etc that have work arounds and internet
availabe programs to deal with things like this..

Not sure I am keen on answering a question about the blindingly obvious but
yes, it had occurred to me to ask the long-since-departed person who gave it
to me

I asked T-Mobile and they told me to take it in to one of their sales
centres who promptly told me they couldn't do a thing: They also said I
might send it in to an auth rep cen. My experience of them is that their
bills for even the most minor repair tend to be at the same level as the
value of the unit on the basis that the user MUST be desperate to get his
info back. And someone has to pay for someone to go through all those reams
of paperwork when they take in such a repair. Hadn't you found this before?

I wonder why no one has managed to work out how to get at the info on it to
reset it if there is no reset switch which operates to erase all data on it?
And no one SEEMS to have ever asked this question before as per Goggle.
