Problem with Magellan Meridian Gold after update

I updated the firmware on my Magellan Meridian Gold, and also installed
a new basemap. I bought the unit in the US, but live in Europe, so I
changed the basemap to a European one, using Mapsend World Wide
Basemap. Since then, the GPS will not read maps from the SD-card.
Without maps loaded, it works excellent. If I try to run a map on the
unit, it works fine until I change to the map nav-screen. Then I hear a
long beep, and the unit reboots. Anybody else experienced this? Any
clues as to what is wrong?
