Sister in law has just purchased the above and has downloaded the cameras
from www.pocketgpsworld.com website.

She has also downloaded the POI warning sounds from the same site - as I
have for PDA version of TomTom 5.

She re-named data.chk to olddata.chk, and was about to transfer the
new.data.chk file when TomTom Go turned itself off. On trying to turn it on
again it plays the Tom Tom drums and switches straight off again.

Any suggestions?

Cheers
Steve

She tells me that she has re-charged the unit for three quarters of an hour.
Enough?

Steve
PS.
I can't see the unit as it's over 50 miles away from me.

Try a reset, there is a small reset hole underneath. Insert a paperclip and
the unit will reset.

Yes, I have heard of this problem happening a lot with the speed
cameras, but the reset as Darren instructed usually clears it up...
Hope she loves her 300! :)

Just to clarify, this is not an issue relating to our Safety Camera
database. With many thousands installed every week we'd know if it was!

Tried reset, which failed - however restored from backup and everything
works again.
Must have had a file corrupted?

Darren is right, I've used the cameras on a PDA for at least 9 months and
never had a problem. The only thing I did notice was a slowing of the map
refreshing on the screen. This was cured by not having everything shown,
they will show up as long as you have got a warning established for camera
or other POI.

Cheers
Steve

Sorry Darren--wasn't trying to implicate your database in anything...I
have just heard that there's a lot of complicated matters with the
speed cameras. 80/20, I would try to download the file again and see
if it works--make sure you delete the old file first. Other that that,
how are you liking the 300?

Nothing complicated about it at all. Unless copying 12 files into a folder
on the storage card is considered complicated!

Helena
The file works fine - 300 apparently up and running.
It's not my 300 I have Navigator 5 on a PDA, which is far more useful to me
as I can keep my contacts and diary on one unit and synchronise it with
Outlook.

I also use the Offline Traffic news database, which allows me to view
problems and decide if I want to route round them.
