Author Garmin dealer in east Chicago?

Hi group,

In a couple of days a friend of mine will make a one
day stop in Chicago, staying at E Chicago Ave.
I have been trying to find online a store where
he can buy, over the counter, a Garmin GPSMap 60CS
at a reasonable price. But I seem to find only online
stores.

It is nice to see online what products they have
and prices, but when possible I much prefer to pop
in for the actual purchase.

CompUSA does not seem to have that particular
model, neither does Best Buy. Boaters World is
conveniently located but sells only online as far
as I can figure out.

Do you happen to be familiar with the area and
know of a store there?

If he can take a little trip up north, there is a Bass Pro Shop in
Gurnee (about 45 miles north of downtown Chicago) that probably carries
the unit. If you call the store and ask for the Marine Electronics
section they can tell you if they have it.

For all the time and days you have asked this question on this group. You
could have ordered it on line and had it shipped to you. Or drove the 45
Miles north to the bass pro and picked it up.

go with on-line store and make sure it is shipped out to the hotel a
couple of days ahead of his stay. Give specific shipping instruction
(DHL is a good one providing 2nd day guarantee) re the receiver that
he/she is a guest at X hotel booked for certain day.

i did that all the time

make sure you email your details as some of the on-line order
sometimes do not allow that much details to be put in

Lars,

i forgot to mention
if you order out of state , there is no state tax
i came south a couple of times a yr from canada and there are no lack
of good deal around
also price has come down a lot in terms of euro/can$ recently

sound easy but in fact more tricky than you think

even for shipping to canada not to mention europe, there are the
consideration of custom and tax (or different provinces) .

it takes times too

some of the online store (newegg.com being a popular one) do not even
accept foreign credit card

it is hit and miss thing
