TomTom Go 500 wouldn't switch on. Normal?

| I have a 2 week old Go 500 that's been working fine up until today.
I couldn't switch it on. I pressed the reset switch and the unit turned
on fine and is working fine.
What I want to know is, does this occasionally happen and is it normal
or is it a sign that the unit could be faulty?
I read some posts and noticed that this can happen if the SD card is
full. Mine has 6 megs free.
Something I did to is experimented in the car while waiting for
someone. I made a POI category, set it up then deleted it. Used the
unit for a while, switched it off, when I went to switch it on again an
hour later and it woulnd't power up until I did a reset with a paper
clip.
Is this all normal? Did the POI category have anything to do with it?

Frankie this may happen when the battery is not fully charged.
