Garmin Streetpilot i3 takes me off at roundabouts then back on!!

| I've just bought a Garmin Streetpilot i3 and I decided to set it to
avoid "highways" (which I assumed to mean motorways).
I set off on a 40 mile journey but it took me on the motorway and on
three occasions on that motorway it took me off at a junction and then,
at the roundabout, told me to take the second exit - which of course
took me back onto the motorway!!!
Anyone know whether Highway in Garmin lingo means motorway? Any why did
it take me off and on again a few times!!?

Autobahn is the German word for highway.
If you use preferred road type - donīt. Tried that on the 2610 and gave same
result as you have experienced. PITA.
