Author how to "group-select" waypoints on a map ?

I found a site with interesting waypoint files of places where you can spend
the night with your camper.
But these files are quite big : for example more than 3.000 waypoints for
germany and my Etrex Vista will only store 1.000 waypoints....
I open the files in a "Mapsource" map and would like to be able to draw a
zoom rectangle of my planned trip and to delete all waypoints out of that
rectangle.
This should reduce the number of waypoints to a downloadable size.
Does anyboby know in which software package I can "group select" waypoints
in a map screen
Thks on forehand for any help.

OziExplorer allows you to select waypoints from a file that are on the
currently loaded map. Click "Load" and then click "Append visbile
waypoints from file."

You can do what you want in MapSource, just a little differently from
the way you describe.

Open the file with the saved waypoints in MapSource. Manipulate the
view to show the area with the waypoints you want to download. Pick
the "Selection Tool" from the toolbar. Click and drag to draw a
rectangle around the waypoints you want to download. These waypoints
will now be selected. Copy the selected waypoints. Now open another
session of MapSource. Paste the copied waypoints into the blank file
of the second session of MapSource. You can now download the points
from the new file to your receiver. Of course, you can also save the
new file if you wish.

This technique also works with routes and tracks. You can also use it
to copy waypoints from one MapSource file into another existing
MapSource file that already contains waypoints.

Actually, you can open your source file and the second session of
MapSource at the beginning, but I thought it would be easier to write
clear instructions the way I described it above. Either way will work
and will do what you want.

Thanks most sincerely for both replies.
I managed to copy:paste them
Can't believe I did not find this myself ..... probably because I was
allways using the zoom rectangle and not the selection tool ?....
Thks again and greetings
