I was suprised to discover during a flight last week that the Garmin Quest
has an aviation mode that that appears not to be available during ground
level use. See my screenshot below:

Here it is displaying VMG (Velocity Made Good), vertical speed, and the
compass has converted itself into an aircraft style NAV gauge.

This is also available on the ground... I used vertical speed in my
car, and I'm below sea level here. =8-)

For the compass, just switch to direct routing. You can alter the
compas display to show heading or bearing, by pressing the menu button
on the compass screen. The VMG is also one of the standard fields you
can choose.
