Most good GPS system provide a USB port to connect to a PC. This allow the
owner to download maps and map/software updates from the GPS company. I'm
not sure if the built-in GPS systems include this feature.

i should have included with my post that i currently use a 60cs with
mapsource. it looked like the radio/nav system has an infrared lens, don't
know if its for a remote or to load software into the unit. i hope once i
take delivery that my question are answered in the owners manual.

My wife just bought a 2006 Lincoln Zephyr with nav system. We have been
very impressed with the accuracy and detail of it. I can't say it's the
same system your 2004 is, but it might be you just need a software
update and new map CDs. I'd check with the Ford dealer. That's probably
your only source for either.

I have a 2003 Navigator, and I think it is the same company to get the disc
updates. Just did some quick research for you on thier site. If you go to
http://www.navteq.com/ProductFinder?
action=submitModel&MakeName=FORD& ModelName=Expedition
&Manufacturer=10
&Model=207&Year=2004
You should find the cd set with the latest info on it. Hope this helps
you.

went back to ford dealer to sign papers etc, drove vehicle again and found
8 or 9 disks in the center storage that were not there on my first drive the
other day. it was detailed today and maybe they found them. did not spend
much time with it but it looked good while i was taking my last test drive
before i own it.
thanks again for the fast responses.
